1990’s

Luigi Bigoloni founded Manital in 1990 in Vobarno, a small town in the province of Brescia, a territory that is known globally for its metalworking and craftsmanship that goes back centuries. From the very beginning Bigoloni built up the foundations of the companies’ philosophy: passion for design, attention to detail, and research for innovation.

The Nineties served as a golden opportunity to develop and implement cutting-edge technology into the production of door handles, by introducing new manufacturing systems centred around robotics and automation, a semi-automated assembly system, and a computerized system used to facilitate warehouse management.
The use of the most advanced industrial technologies allows for the perfection of the production cycle, the reduction of waste, and optimized quality. However, the handcrafted artisanship that represents the cultural heritage of Brescia’s Valleys still remains within Manital’s production.

Within Manital’s initial years of operation, already we begin to see the first collaborations with important architects and designers.

2000's

Always in search of new design solutions, Manital collaborates with the protagonists of design and architecture of those years such as Studio Sottsass Associati who designed the “Amleto” handle.

The expansion into the markets of five different continents led to the construction of a new factory in Gavardo (Brescia), which remains as the active Manital factory to this day. With this new factory, an important leap in quality and efficiency was achieved, through a new production cycle centred around robotic islands.

In 2007 Manital was awarded by Confindustria with “Awards for Excellence” in the “Champion of Made in Italy” category, and in 2008 Eurispes ranks it among the 100 Italian excellences.

2010's

Manital begins the decade by celebrating its 20th anniversary. Luigi Bigoloni celebrates this milestone by collaborating with Doriana and Massimiliano Fuksas, a celebration that highlights Manital’s innovative and collaborative spirit in the name of design and Made in Italy. Together they design the new “Carmen” handle.

During these years, Manital sees the entry of the family’s second generation, as Alessandro and Luca, Luigi’s sons, offer a further push forward for Manital.

The importance of the company and international exports continue to grow, as can be seen through new and important collaborations, such as the supply of handle for the Burj Khalifa in Dubai, the tallest skyscraper in the world.

Manital celebrates 30 years of operation with an important recognition: the NoHand handle designed by Mario Mazzer and Giovanni Crosera is included in the ADI Design Index 2020.

Mario Mazzer, Giulia Mazzer and Giovanni Crosera are selected as the new artistic directors of the company. A new image and visual identity is developed to further highlight the company’s know-how that is centred around the attention to detail, elegance, and technical efficiency.
